About the project
TACTIC (HealTh ImpAct Toolkit for Climate Change Attribution) is an innovative initiative dedicated to advancing research on the health impacts of climate change. The project is developing a dynamic, digital toolkit designed to support researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders in attributing specific health outcomes to climate-related factors.
Co-produced with key stakeholders and informed by communities directly affected by climate-driven health issues, the toolkit will be organized in thematic hubs and accessible via a user-friendly website platform. It will provide up-to-date data, methodological resources, and policy-relevant information to facilitate robust health attribution studies-especially in regions most vulnerable to climate change, such as Southern Africa, the Andes, and the Mediterranean.
TACTIC will generate new evidence and refine methods to address pressing research questions, including the role of individual emitters, the impact of different emission scenarios, and the development of indicators relevant to health and policy. The project will also conduct case studies on neglected health outcomes-like infectious diseases, kidney disease, mental health, and maternal health-highlighting their unequal impacts on vulnerable populations.
Through the development of communication guidelines and actionable policy insights, TACTIC aims to bridge the gap between science and policy, enhance capacity building in low-resource settings, and ultimately increase knowledge and awareness about the health consequences of climate change.
